52 Weeks, Week 8 | Meadville Area Photographer

Thursday, February 25th, 2010

Well, I don’t have a whole lot to say about this week.  It got nice for a few days, might have even hit 40!  Some of the snow melted and we were *just* getting used to the “warm” weather and BAM!  Snow again.  Well, we’re on the upswing now, right?  At least that’s what I keep telling myself and anyone else who will listen.  Haha!  So, here is our shot for this week.  It was done in our sunroom, so it wasn’t quite as bad as being outside, but still pretty darn cold.  If I think of it this weekend, I’ll have to share an outtake of the kids.  It was pretty cute :-)

Have a very happy weekend!

How to pick a good photographer | Meadville Area Photographer

Thursday, February 25th, 2010

Today a photographer friend of mine, Amy of Amy Ro Photography, posted an awesome article on how to choose a good photographer.  I think she does a great job of explaining what it is people should look at when trying to find a good photographer.  So many people are unsure and just know they want some pictures to look back on and think “wow”.   She provides very good information and I just had to share it since it was so well done.  Thanks for the great read, Amy!

Check out Amy’s article!  Happy reading!!

What To Wear – Couples Edition

Sunday, February 21st, 2010

For this segment of “What To Wear”, I put together outfits that would be great for an urban “couples” shoot.  Kelly wanted a look that was very fashionable and also asked that I incorporate some winter-appropriate pieces into the look because unfortunately, it looks like winter isn’t letting up anytime soon.

You might as well cooperate with the cold if you want to get your photos taken now, as there are definitely ways to still look great in winter clothing!   I used neutrals for the majority of both outfits, while adding a pop of the same teal color in each outfit.  Generally, I think the woman gets more attention in pictures than the guy because a lot of time the women are more fun to look at – they usually have more interesting clothing!  So to put the guy and girl on an even playing field,  I picked teal as the accent color here because it is a really nice and unexpected color for the man – much more interesting than a navy or beige sweater.  I also found the perfect complement in a fierce shoe for the woman.  The idea is to give the outfit a ”classic” feel overall, but make sure it is vibrant and fun by adding details like the teal colored shoes and sweater.  Also, make sure to dress it up a little; you don’t want to look boring and drab in matching jeans and white button down shirts.  It’s okay to show off a little personality in your outfits, just try to stay away from really busy patterns or writing on your clothing – you want the attention to stay on your face – just use the clothing as a complement!

New product for 2010 {Urban Panel} | Meadville Senior Photographer

Thursday, February 18th, 2010

So, I am super excited about a new product that I am offering.  I saw them and just *had* to get one.  Okay, two.  They are METAL.  Yes, metal.  What is cooler than that??  Not much.  You should see these things…they are practically 3D.  They have shine and depth to them like nothing else.  The colors POP.  I seriously love them.  I have two on hand…an 8×10 and a 16×20.  The 8×10 would be perfect on a desk or in a locker.  The 16×20 would look fab on the wall.  Or on my desk, as it currently resides.  Haha!  I will also be offering an 11×14 size.

Here are photos of them, although the photos truly do not do it justice.  It must be seen to be appreciated.

Happy Thursday!

52 weeks…week 7…still snowing.

Wednesday, February 17th, 2010

Despite this, we NEEDED to get a picture outside.  I am seriously running out of indoor options in our house.  I’m just going to have to choose [random persons] house and take some pics there.  This is the time of year where I am terribly anxious for spring to arrive.  I NEED some warmer temps.  50s, 60s?  Heck, I’ll even take 40s at this point!  I thought we’d go out and get a nice shot of the three of us in the snow.  Ahh, that will be nice, pretty, happy.  Wrong.  By the time I got the kids ready, set up the tripod, got my settings in place…they had HAD it.  They wanted nothing to do with an outdoor picture.  Crying ensued.  I asked what was wrong. “We’re COLD.  We don’t LIKE the snow.”  Okayyy…going well.  I said, “FINE.  We don’t LIKE the snow. YUCK.” and stuck out my tongue.  Hey, they WORKED.  They laughed.  So, we all stuck our tongues out at the snow.  One shot, not great, but it works for week 7.   Spring, we’re ready any time!

AND week 6 of 52 weeks.  Only week six.  Oh my!  I can and WILL do this!  Here is the photo for week 6.  The kids weren’t too thrilled with the idea of another picture and they actually said, “maybe some other day, Mama”, but then when they saw what I had in store for them…well, they changed their tune.  I had an extra heart lollipop from my Valentine Mini sessions and had big plans for it.  When they caught a glimpse of that bad boy, they immediately decided pictures were a great idea.  Haha!  So, in honor of the upcoming Valentine’s Day…..week 6:
