Happy 4th Birthday, Miss T

Monday, April 11th, 2011

My little girl.

Well, she’s getting to be my big girl now.  She turned FOUR this weekend.  Where does the time go?  I seriously cannot believe that it was FOUR years since our baby girl was born.  She is just the sweetest, funniest, most positive little girl I have ever encountered.  Of course, as luck would have it, the poor thing was sick and spent the night before her birthday in the Emergency Room :-(  Needless to say, she wasn’t in great spirits on her birthday, either.  She had NO appetite and was just really not herself at all.  We told her we will have to have a birthday re-do.  I just feel AWFUL for her.  She has such a “sunshiney” personality and was SO excited about turning four…sigh.  Sometimes things are just not fair.  Thankfully, we planned their little party the weekend following, so hopefully she will be recovered by then.  We’ll be praying!

Now, as you may expect, I have a few photos to show how she has changed in the past four years.  My sweet girl. :-)

And now FOUR.  *sigh*

Happy birthday, beautiful girl!!!!  We love you!

Tea Time

Sunday, April 3rd, 2011

And now it’s my girl’s turn. :-) While my son was off busily playing with his cars, my daughter was hosting a very special tea party.  It featured exclusive guests, such as “Hello Kitty” and “big girl doll” (as she likes to refer to her).  Everyone in attendance was told to wear a skirt, tiara and necklace.  The hostess, of course, was sporting a Tinkerbell dress over top a striped sweater.  Quite glamorous.  It is so sweet watching her be “girly”.  I love it!   It’s not often enough that I get pictures like this of my little ones.  I need to do it more so I have them to look back on and remember these times.  They are fleeting.  Each day seems to go faster than the one before, so I need these! Here is Miss T and her “friends”.

Boys will be boys.

My boy.

He LOVES his cars.   I think he could honestly play with them all day long.  He knows the make and model of many of them and has for a few years now.  I can distinctly remember one day sitting in the coffee shoppe with him, watching as the cars came and left the drive-thru.  One particular car was leaving and he asked me what it was.  I, not being a huge car buff, didn’t know and just rattled off some random make.  He glanced at me, sternly, and informed me that I was incorrect and then proceeded to tell me the CORRECT make of the vehicle.  Geeeeesh!  Give me a break, kid!  Haha!

Anyhow, my point is, he really loves these little things and I want to remember the moments he spends playing with them.  It’s just too sweet to not remember.  They’re only little once and I want to remember as much of it as I can.  So here he is.  My boy.  And his cars.

I really love this one because you can see “blankie” in there, too.  Blankie has seen better days, but P still loves him!

52 Weeks, take 2

Monday, March 28th, 2011

You may or may not recall my personal mission in 2010 to get a photo of myself with the kids each week for 52 weeks.  I started off, not-so-optimistically.  I wasn’t quite sure I could do a full YEAR of photos of the kids and myself.  Well, I did it.  It was actually pretty easy.  Were there weeks when I was frantically running around, trying to corral the kiddos long enough to grab ONE pic before it was too late?  You betcha!  Overall, not to bad, though.

Well, I decided to try it again for 2011.  It’s not been quite as easy.  My tripod broke, so it’s been making things much more challenging.  If I wait until my husband gets home, it’s too dark.  It usually results in me rigging up a step stool or something equally impressive to grab a quick shot.  Needless to say, they aren’t the highest quality shots, as you can imagine.  That said, we’re still doing it.  Challenging, yes, but we power through.  Hopefully as the weather improves I will find myself more motivated, too.  You all know how I love outdoor shots!

So, here are the first few weeks of our 2011 attempt!  I highly recommend attempting this.  It’s so great to watch how the children grow and change over the course of the year!  SO much fun!

bedroom mini-makeover

I have a problem.

I get very…bored.  With lots of things.  One of which is paint colors.  I have tried numerous times to paint my living room, but then received very dirty looks (and even death threats, lol) at the sheer MENTION of getting rid of the green.  SO, I defaulted to the kids’ rooms.  My son’s was cute, but almost cluttered-looking.  It was blue on top with a white chair rail and blue and green stripes on the bottom.  Like I said, cute, but no longer cutting it.  We decided to give it a more grown up look.  He asked for red, but we weren’t crazy about painting the walls red, so we opted for a more neutral shade and accented with red.  I have to give HUGE props to the new Behr Premium Plus Ultra paint.  It’s the paint and primer in one.  Well, it went over his ENTIRE room (stripes and ALL!) in ONE coat.  I kid you not.  I was floored (and thrilled).  Check out the results!

For my daughter’s room, we had a different issue.  It was an adorable little girly room.  She had one brown wall and three pink walls.  Problem was…her room is small.  The dark paint made it seem VERY small.  She is a very cheery little girl.  She reminds me a lot of sunshine.  SO, we went with a light yellow.  This color ended up being just PERFECT for her room.  We were able to keep her existing curtains and a cute bedspread that we had laying around (on clearance from Target, of course!), so that made mama happy :-)

She is in LOVE with her “new” room and we are as well.  Take a peek!  I’d love to know what you think!

International Festival

Tuesday, February 22nd, 2011

Each year, the Meadville Cooperative Preschool puts on a fabulous event on the campus of Allegheny College, known as “International Festival”.  The preschool families, as well as families from the community, are invited to create displays based on various countries from around the world.  Our children enjoy helping us put the displays together and it is such a great learning experience for them.  The event is coming up THIS Sunday, February 27th and is open to the public.   Please check out the flyer for additional information.  We would LOVE to see you there!

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Hearts.

Nothing says ‘Valentine’s Day’ like hearts, right?  Well, the kids and I decided to make a nice banner for the house to celebrate.  We used red and pink paper and lots of glitter glue. :-)  It was so fun and the kids were so proud of their work!  Check it out!

Valentine's Day

I hope you all have a wonderful day with the ones you love!
