Pretty things

Who doesn’t love pretty things?

I know *I* do!  I am SUCH a sucker for pretty things, shiny things, pink things, so many things, really.  I like to take pictures of them, too.  I know, you’re surprised, aren’t you?  Well, when I saw this beautiful little beanie hat with a sparkly flower on it, I KNEW my daughter had to have it.  The size listed was for an infant, but this wonderful seller agreed to make one in my daughter’s size.  YAY!   Really I cannot say enough about Mimi’s Babies.  They were fantastic to work with and the hat we received is so soft and so well made.  I would highly recommend them.  Stop by their Facebook Page and become a fan!  They also have an Etsy Store you can check out.   Here are some shots of Miss T in her fabulous new hat!!

Not just for kids

Ahhhh, Ryah Sofia.

I’m sure everyone already knows how much I LOVE Ryah Sofia’s appliqués for my daughter (and clients!), but I have been known to sport them, myself.  They are a nice little touch when I want to dress up my outfit slightly.  Well, they announced the release of their “basics” line (which is just fabulous!)  and, let me tell you, it’s perfect for adults, as well.  They offer three colors…brown, black and white…and two different styles for each color.  You still have the choice of using them as a clip or ordering the elastic or metal headbands for them, too.  I had the pleasure of working with a gorgeous model and getting some shots of the appliqués in action ;-)  Aren’t they beautiful?  Both the girl AND the hair pretties??  I think so.

Spring Mini Sessions [mjc style]

Saturday, March 26th, 2011

Back at the beginning of February, I was a “jane” and hosted a Matilda Jane trunk show at my house.  We had our first set of mini sessions from that show a few weeks ago and it was so much fun!  Since it was so cold and snowy, we weren’t able to do them outdoor like we were for the fall sessions, but it was still fun, nonetheless.  The little girls loved showing off their new clothes.  Most of the wonderful hair pretties are from Ryah Sofia (she is having a spring sale RIGHT NOW!).  My daughter absolutely LOVES her hair pieces.  She ASKS to wear them.  Definitely a rare thing in this house ;-)

Anyhow, I’ve gabbed on enough now…enjoy the sneak peek!!

What To Wear: Spring Family Edition

Thursday, March 17th, 2011

Hi All – Lauren here, from Stylized Existence, back to give you tips on how to style your family for your Spring photography sessions! Kelly asked me to create a fun, spring look for a family of four. I put together this look after finding the fun little girl’s navy + white striped blazer with yellow buttons.

What To Wear KGP

Using the yellow blazer buttons as inspiration for an additional color, I put Mom in a bright yellow top, but grounded it with neutrals: a cardigan, accessories, and shoes. Don’t forget the small details with big impacts – red nails would be killer (in a good way!) here. Dad took a cue from the stripes in the little girl’s jacket, and his sweater fits perfectly into the entire ensemble because it creates synergy between his look and the little girl’s, but is neutral enough to not compete with her look. The boy’s outfit is also neutral, pulling the navy from his sister’s look and the beige from Dad, but we create interest by using different fabrics (seen here in the denim, cable knit, and cotton dress shirt). Make sure to use these tips when picking out outfits for your family’s next session!

Missie Moosie [style]

Thursday, March 10th, 2011

A couple months ago, I saw a contest on the facebook page of a fabulous children’s clothing designer.   She was looking for models/photographers to showcase her spring line.  I entered my daughter (and myself) in the contest, figuring, it was worth a shot.  Her clothes are amazing and would be SO fun to photograph.  Well, it was quite an exciting day when we found out we were in the top FIVE!  Yes..of all entries, we were one of the FIVE finalists!  It was quite an honor.  MISSIE MOOSIE is a stylish children’s boutique and you should definitely check out her fabulous spring line!   I have already conducted three “mini sessions” with my daughter modeling this great outfit.  I am sure more will come.  Check out the shots we have so far!  Hair goodies are from Ryah Sofia.  She has tons of beautiful, great quality, hair accessories!

This past week, the much-anticipated Matilda Jane orders arrived!  I think I was as excited as Tatum was about seeing it all.  Haha!  I think most everyone who ordered shared in our excitement as they were able to look through their new goodies.  The mini sessions will be scheduled soon, so be on the look-out for those sneak peeks in the next few weeks.  In the mean time, here is Tatum showing off a couple of her faves from House of Clouds :-)  The beautiful headbands are from the fabulous Ryah Sofia!
